To coincide with the Bath Literature Festival, this was an exhibition of 50 beautifully printed, beautifully illustrated, beautifully bound books, the product of the UK’s best known small private presses, all members of the Fine Press Book Association.

There were books from The Old School Press at Hinton Charterhouse in Somerset, books from the Gregynog Press in Wales and books from the Impact Press which is based at the Centre for Fine Print Research at UWE Bristol School of Art, Media and Design. These are books which are rarely shown in exhibitions but which are sought after by book collectors and specialist art libraries.

The exhibition’s title reflects the marriage of talents that each book represents: those of the writer, printer, illustrator, papermaker and bookbinder who work closely together in the preparation and production of each volume.
